An award winning author, TEDx speaker, columnist and mentor, Kiran Manral has been in various avatars, a journalist, India Cultural Fluent and Trend spotter, Qualitative Market Researcher and is currently Ideas Editor with a women centric news portal.
Her books include The Reluctant Detective, Once Upon A Crush, All Aboard, Karmic Kids-The Story of Parenting Nobody Told You, The Face at the Window, A Boy Guide to Growing Up, Saving Maya and Missing, Presumed Dead. Her short stories include Switcheroo and True Love Stories. She currently writes a column on feminism at SheThePeople.tv, and has been a columnist on sexuality at DNA, on gender issues with Tehelka and on parenting at yowoto.com. She was part of the core founding team of Child Sexual Abuse Awareness Month and Violence Against Women Awareness Month. She also initiated India Helps, a volunteer network to help disaster victims which worked on the rehabilitation of 26/11 attack victims. She was on the planning board of the Kumaon Literary Festival, has co-curated Festivelle 2016 and the SheThePeople Women Writers Fest 2017 and 2018.
An Arts Graduate from Mithibai College Mumbai University passionately pursued Activities and Societies: Debate, Theatre, Quizzing.
She was awarded the Women Achievers Award by Young Environmentalists Association in 2014, the WOW Award in 2016, was amongst the six authors shortlisted for the Femina Women Awards for Literary Contribution in 2017. The Indian Council of UN Relations (ICUNR) supported by the Ministry for Women and Child Development, Government of India, awarded her the International Women’s Day Award 2018 for excellence in the field of writing. Her novella, Saving Maya, was long listed for the 2018 Saboteur Awards, UK, supported by the Arts Council England. Her novels, The Face at the Window and Missing, Presumed Dead were both longlisted for JioMAMI Word to Screen.
