Although Indian women are prone to a variety of health issues, some of them even fatal, tragically, only 20 percent of them are covered by some form of health insurance. Meanwhile, about 80 percent of Indian men are covered by health insurance, which brings to mind all those health advertisements which focus on men's health and how women are the gatekeepers of it.
India needs to wake up to women's health too
Another independent study by industry body ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) stated that more than 80 percent of working women in India are struggling with lifestyle chronic issues or acute health problems like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hypertension, depression, obesity, and backache, etc. Moreover, they are battling the hurdles of balancing their personal and professional life and this is the single most issue that is causing the health of Indian women to spiral downwards. Apart from these, Indian women also face gender-specific health issues like anemia, spine ailments, anemia and calcium deficiency-fuelled bone disorders like osteoporosis, not to mention gynecological problems too. Although the rest of the world is soon waking up to women's health and female-centric treatments, India needs to follow along too.
Insurance companies must cater to women
Health shouldn't simply be kept in top condition to birth children but should be something women should think of regardless of their age. Therefore, women must remember that the earlier you procure a health insurance policy, the better it is because younger women can receive a good premium because they have better health on their side, generally speaking. Also, remember to choose a policy looking at the terms and conditions because there is more to it than just a premium. Today, with the advancement in technology, healthcare and in the country, insurance companies are offering clients ways to motivate them to support their own health so that they can live in the best of health. So, do your homework and make sure you choose the best plan for you.
